Get the details below.
■ What is Bar Stella Abyss?
Bar Stella Abyss is a roguelike strategy RPG in which you strengthen your party with the power of the constellations while exploring a dungeon in another world that changes form each time you play. In addition to exploring the other world, the story will unravel as you share drinks with the peculiar patrons of the bar “Stella Abyss.”
Wanderer (voiced by Nanako Mori)
A wanderer who lost their face and arm.The protagonist, who arrives at the hidden bar Stella Abyss after following a flyer floating in the wind through the city at night. In order to get back the face and arm they lost in the Drunken World, they must go back and forth between the bar and other world.
■ The Patrons of Stella Abyss
To make your way through this Drunken World filled with powerful monsters, you will need allies who fight alongside you. Here we will introduce some of the Stella Abyss patrons who appear in the Drunken World, where only those who “lost something important” are said to reach, and lend their strength to Wanderer.
Leona (voiced by Honoka Kuroki)
A naive young university girl.“I’m the kind of person who can’t turn a blind eye to someone in need. I’d be happy if you… trusted me on that.”
A Stella Abyss patron who Wanderer engages with early on. She is a university student who was raised in a wealthy family. While her naivety is a bit of a concern, she is friendly and a good listener. She enjoys the Drunken World as a fantasy dream.
Ginga (voiced by Mutsuki Iwanaka)
A formerly passionate footballer who lives in the moment.“After all, isn’t having fun the best part of life? Something like… having fun drinking and passing the time!”
A friendly and cheerful university student who was once on the soccer team. He was a bit of a celebrity in the world of high school soccer, and naturally aspired to play professionally. He is currently shifting away from soccer, being busy with his part-time work, love life, and hectic schedule typical of a university student.
Cas (voiced by Momoyo Koyama)
A high-tension otaku streamer.“You can call me ‘Cas-tan’! Everyone calls me that. Even I call myself that!”
A self-proclaimed “net hero and idol streamer who exposes the darkness of the world.” She is an otaku who loves the anime “Castor and Pollux with Gigant Machina” (“Caspogi” for short), which aired in the late-night block 10 years back. She carries around a stuffed bear named “Porpol,” which she talks to from time to time.
Baran (voiced by Hiromu Mineta)
An art university student with various interests who aspires to become a painter.“I’m not just being polite, though? When it comes to art, I despise ‘lies.'”
An art university student who does things at his own pace, and is known for his kind smile and gentle demeanor. With the goal of achieving success as an artist, he attends a famous art university and works hard every day to create new works. He partakes in a variety of activities, including diving, mountain climbing, and web production, and uses them as inspirations for his paintings. He enjoys Stella Abyss as a sense of comfort and stimulation, and visits in-between creating new works.
■ How to Recruit Patrons as Allies
By sharing a table with one of the patrons of Bar Stella Abyss, they may become your ally when you encounter them in a dungeon. If you see someone visit the bar for the first time, be sure to talk to them.
Dungeon Encounters are a Matter of Luck
Up to two characters can be added as party members who lend you their strength in a dungeon. While the characters you encounter are basically random, you are more likely to run into the last character you sat down with at the bar.
—Since each character has their own affinities with enemy attributes, recruiting party members who have an advantage over the enemies that appear in that dungeon is an effective strategy.
Develop Links to Power Up
As you progress together in dungeons, your “Links” with party members will increase. As you strengthen a Link, that character’s initial equipped Stella will change to a stronger one, and Wanderer’s stats will grow even more upon leveling up. If you reach a deadlock while exploring, develop your party members’ Links to improve your capabilities in battle.
—While there is a limit to the level that you can develop your Links, you can unlock those limits by successfully completing specific conversations.
Links can also be increased by gifting presents obtained in dungeons. Presents can be obtained via treasure chests throughout dungeons or facilities called “shops.”
—Reactions to the same present vary depending on the patron receiving it. The more you drink together and learn about a patron’s likes and dislikes, the better you will be at choosing a present they will enjoy.
■ Strengthen Characters with Stella
Initially, characters can use three types of techniques: “normal attacks,” “area attacks,” and “long-range attacks.” By setting “Stella,” which are the powers of the constellations, the performance of these techniques can be altered.
There are two main types of Stella:
- Area Stella – Changes the attack area and power of a technique.
- Skill Stella – Consumes MP and adds effects to a technique.
Area Stella
Only one Area Stella may be equipped per technique. It is the Stella displayed at the top of the Stella setting screen and controls the technique’s area of effect.
—Area Stella with a high area of effect may come with the disadvantage of lowering a Skill Stella’s power or increasing the amount of MP consumed.
Skill Stella
Up to three Skill Stella can be equipped per technique. It controls the effects that activate when the technique is used. Effects range from damaging the enemy to transforming the affected area to poisonous terrain and so on.
—Some Stella boast effects typical of their constellation, such as the Scorpio Stella “Lethal Poison Injection,” which can cause a one-hit death by poison, or the Cancer Stella “Light Step,” which lets you move right two tiles.
Getting Creative with Skill Sets
The effects of Skill Stella activate in order from the top of the set to the bottom. The effect of the Stella that activates first can make the Stella that activate after all the more powerful. If you set multiple Stella for a single technique, make sure to check their order to get the most out of your technique.
—After poisoning the enemy with the Stella “Poison Injection,” you can activate “Merciless Blow” to increase your power against enemies with status ailments and deal even more damage.
—“Fangs of Decay” lowers your own HP to increase the amount of damage dealt. Depending on how you combine it, its disadvantages can be turned around and it can become the key to utilizing other skills.
How attacks perform will vary depending on how you mix and match Stella. Try out various combinations to create powerful techniques all your own!
